It’s been four months since we postponed our epic trekking documentary through Myanmar and we’ve been restlessly investigating alternatives. Kachin state has proven to be far too unreliable for us to make any concrete plans for our Trek, so, we have decided to pursue an alternate, representative route of equivalent distance through the relatively peaceful Sagaing state in the country’s west.
This new route is still historically authentic, promises to be more strenuous and more remote, and we therefore anticipate it will provide an even better opportunity to recreate and experience the original conditions and challenges faced by the 1942 refugees.
We are in early talks with our Australian and Yangon-based partners and they have responded positively regarding the feasibility of our new route.
Stay tuned for more updates as we push towards a 2020 departure…
